An alliance that connects the classroom with the workplace
At ZEWSWe firmly believe in the value of opening doors to young talent. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that we have begun our second year of participation in the program Dual Education in Costa Rica, An initiative that seeks to connect technical education students with real-life work environments, giving them the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice in specific, everyday situations.
Last Wednesday, May 7, we had the honor of visiting the facilities of the Professional Technical College Saint Peter of Barva de Heredia, Night Technique section, with the aim of personally meeting the teachers, coordinators and students who will be part of this new cycle of collaboration.
Although we had previously met with them at our facilities (both in Pérez Zeledón and San Pedro de Montes de Oca), this new meeting in Heredia allowed us to strengthen our relationship and reaffirm our commitment to this valuable partnership between education and business.
During the visit, ZEWS's general manager, Abigail Flores, and company founder Fabián Vargas participated on behalf of the company, sharing their expectations for this second year of collaborative work with the educational community.
On behalf of the school, we deeply appreciate the welcome and enthusiasm shown by the director, Margarita Ramírez Bonilla; the technical coordinator, Carla Orozco Sánchez; the company coordinator, Lanny Varela Vargas; the teacher, Jorge Esteban Méndez; and the counselor, Carlos Javier Estrada Jiménez. It was also a pleasure to meet the students who are in their learning phase at ZEWS: Ariadna Chambres Chaverri and Josué David Venegas Marín. They are studying the specialty of web development.
That day, Ariadna and Josué had the opportunity to showcase their progress in developing an online store, using both what they learned in school and the guidance of their mentor at ZEWS, engineer David Naranjo Alfaro.
About the Dual Education program in Costa Rica
Dual Education is a form of vocational training that combines learning at an educational institution with direct experience in the workplace. Its purpose is to improve the employability of young people and respond to real market needs.
Its main features include:
- blended learning: combines classroom theory with practice in partner companies.
- Relevant training: Students acquire skills aligned with the demands of the productive sector.
- Guided accompaniment: Both the educational institution and the company provide continuous monitoring.
- Strengthening soft skills: Skills such as leadership, teamwork and effective communication are developed.
- Early job placement: Participants gain real-world experience before graduating.
This methodology has proven to be an effective way to enhance national talent and prepare better-trained professionals for the challenges of the current environment, opening up new employability opportunities.
Training to transform: our vision at ZEWS
Our company believes it is essential to provide spaces where students can apply what they've learned in the classroom while facing new challenges that allow them to grow professionally and personally. In a real-world work environment like the one offered by ZEWS, we seek not only to strengthen the technical skills young people already possess, but also to complement their training with essential soft skills, such as time management, applied creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability to change.
Beyond being an academic requirement, hosting interns under the Dual Education model represents an opportunity for us to contribute to the development of Costa Rican talent and to commit to a more competitive and inclusive future. Through this spirit of collaboration, we have also opened our doors to colleges and universities in the past to host interns in their classrooms, and we hope to continue doing so in the future.
Initiatives like these Dual Education initiatives also allow us to learn from new generations: their fresh ideas, mastery of digital tools, and enthusiasm for growth are a constant source of motivation and inspiration. Dual Education is, in this sense, a path to dual learning that strengthens both businesses and educational institutions, and, of course, students.
We continue to invest in young talent
We are deeply grateful to CTP San Pedro de Barva de Heredia for trusting us again as part of this training process. We begin this second year with renewed enthusiasm, confident that the shared learning and challenges we take on together will bear fruit that will positively impact the participants' professional lives.
At ZEWS We will continue to invest in initiatives that generate real value for society, strengthening our commitment to young talent, innovation, and the sustainable development of Costa Rica.
